High Voltage Splicing Tape, Self-fusing EPR Tape High Voltage EPR Splicing Tape | 69kV Self-Fusing Moisture Seal
Stop risking grid failures with low-grade rubber. Liantu® High-Voltage EPR Splicing Tape provides void-free 69kV insulation and permanent moisture sealing. Meets ASTM D4388 standards for underground and overhead power distribution.
The "Grid Failure" Nightmare vs. The Liantu Solution
In high-voltage systems, a 1mm air pocket can lead to a 10-million dollar outage. We engineered the "Zero-Void" solution.
| The Engineering Nightmare (Customer Pain Points) | The Liantu High-Voltage Solution (Our Solution) |
|---|---|
| "Corona Discharge & Arcing": Wrapping stiff tapes around complex joints leaves microscopic air pockets (voids) where electricity "arcs," eventually burning through the insulation. | High-Elongation Fusion: Our EPR formula stretches up to 800%, allowing it to flow into the smallest crevices. The high-tension wrap forces out all air, creating a Void-Free Homogeneous Mass that eliminates corona discharge risks. |
| "Capillary Moisture Ingress": Underground splices often fail because water "creeps" into the seams of standard tapes over time, causing massive short circuits. | Molecular Amalgamation: This is not a "sticky" tape. When stretched, it triggers a chemical fusion that turns multiple layers into a single, seamless rubber sleeve. It is 100% impermeable to water, even in direct burial or submerged applications. |
| "Thermal Overload Sags": High-load cables can reach 130∘C130∘C during surges. Cheap rubber tapes melt or lose their structural integrity, leading to insulation thinning. | T-Grade Thermal Stability: Engineered for constant operation at 90∘C90∘C and Emergency Overloads up to 130∘C130∘C. Our EPR base won't sag, flow, or crack under extreme thermal cycling, maintaining a constant dielectric barrier. |
| "Installation Complexity": Many HV tapes are too stiff to wrap in cold weather or too "gummy" in the heat, leading to poor quality splices by field technicians. | All-Weather Workability: Liantu EPR remains flexible and easy to handle from −40∘C−40∘C to +90∘C+90∘C. It provides a consistent "feel" for the jointer, ensuring high-quality results in any climate. |
Application Scenarios: Where Failure is Not an Option
Targeting high-stakes utility and renewable energy sectors.
Primary Insulation for Splices (Up to 69kV): The professional choice for jointing and terminating medium to high voltage solid dielectric cables.
Substation & Transformer Bushings: Providing a permanent, UV-stable moisture seal for critical substation connections.
Renewable Energy (Wind/Solar): Protecting underground collector cables that are subject to constant thermal surges and vibration.
Submarine & Underground Power: Ensuring 100% waterproof integrity for cables in flood-prone or permanently wet environments.

Technical Performance (TDS) - The "ASTM D4388" Standard
Data that satisfies Utility Engineers and NETA Testing Technicians.
| Property | Value | Why it matters for Grid Reliability? |
|---|---|---|
| Base Material | High-Grade EPR Rubber | Superior ozone, UV, and corona resistance. |
| Voltage Rating | Up to 69,000V (69kV) | Safe for the most demanding utility distribution networks. |
| Dielectric Strength | ≥30kV/mm≥30kV/mm | Exceptional arc-resistance prevents insulation punch-through. |
| Elongation at Break | ≥800%≥800% | High stretch is critical for "Void-Free" wrapping. |
| Standards Compliance | ASTM D4388 (Type I, II, III) | Meets the global benchmark for self-fusing electrical tapes. |
| Emergency Overload | 130∘C130∘C (266°F) | Protects the system during peak load or fault conditions. |
Expert Insight: Achieving "Void-Free" Integrity
[Liantu High-Voltage Lab] In high-voltage jointing, the Jointer's Technique is as important as the tape.
The 3/4 Width Rule: To achieve a perfect moisture seal, always stretch the tape until its width narrows to 3/4 of its original size. This tension triggers the amalgamation process.
Half-Lap Perfection: Apply with a 50% overlap (half-lap). This ensures that every point in the splice has at least double the insulation thickness, providing a significant safety margin.
The Mechanical Guard: EPR is an insulator, not a protective jacket. Always finish your HV splice with a layer of Liantu Premium PVC Tape to provide mechanical and chemical protection for the rubber.
FAQ (Addressing Professional Conversion Barriers)
Q: Can this tape be used on oil-filled cables?
A: EPR has moderate oil resistance, but for constant immersion in transformer oil, we recommend a specialized variant or a protective jacketing layer.
Q: How does it handle Ozone and UV exposure?
A: Excellent. EPR is an inorganic elastomer that is inherently resistant to Ozone cracking and UV degradation, making it ideal for overhead outdoor terminations.
Q: How long does it take to fully fuse?
A: The fusion starts immediately under tension. Within 24 hours, the layers are inseparable and have become a solid block of rubber.
Description:
Taking rubber, butyl and Styrene butadine rubber as raw material, the tape is made by film pressing method, It is elastic, insulative and waterproof.
Application:
It is used for jointing of 1~35KV electric cable connection and terminal insulation, for insulation, protecting and sealing purpose.
Use method:
When in use, stretch the tape to 200% in length, wrap at least 3~5 laps by continous semi overlapping, then use vinyl electrical tape to wrap 3~5 layers for protection purpose.
