LIANTU Stands With Clients Amid International Shipping Challenges

Choosing to Share the Burden During Force Majeure Circumstances

Recently, one of our clients encountered unexpected additional charges while preparing to collect their cargo at the destination port. The shipment could only be released after all related fees were settled.

Upon receiving the client's feedback, Linku immediately contacted the local shipping agent to verify the charges and actively negotiate possible cost reductions.

Further investigation confirmed that these additional charges were directly related to the ongoing regional conflict and its impact on international shipping operations. The fees included:

  • Container detention and usage charges
  • Emergency risk surcharges
  • Transshipment fees
  • Port congestion charges
  • Storage and warehousing fees

All charges were billed based on actual costs incurred and allocated proportionally according to cargo volume. The total additional cost amounted to approximately USD 6,870.

 

Ongoing Conflict Causes Severe Port Congestion

Due to the closure of critical shipping routes caused by the conflict, a large number of vessels have remained stranded at Dubai Port for an extended period, making normal cargo transshipment extremely difficult.

Despite these unexpected challenges, LIANTU never stopped seeking solutions. We maintained close communication with shipping lines, local agents, and logistics partners to explore every possible transshipment option and minimize the impact on our clients.

However, as the conflict continued, increasing pressure on port storage, warehousing, and cargo transfers inevitably resulted in significant additional expenses.

Taking Action to Support Our Clients

Through continuous coordination and persistent negotiations, we successfully secured partial fee reductions for our client. Even so, the remaining costs were still considerable.

Guided by our "Customer First" philosophy, Linku chose not to stand by during this difficult time. To help ease our client's burden, we voluntarily covered USD 1,500 of the additional expenses as a gesture of support and partnership.

We fully understand that this situation arose from force majeure circumstances beyond anyone's control. Regardless of market conditions or external challenges, LIANTU remains committed to standing alongside our clients, facing difficulties together, and actively seeking practical solutions.
